The Project
United Airlines approached Miller Creative to build a series of :30 second safety reminders that would play in their ramp break rooms to help improve the safety of employees working around the aircraft.
To find a creative way to present a large number of safety reminders to an audience that is on break and has very limited time to watch a safety reminder. We also had to figure out a way to create animations that were understandable within environments that did not have audio support.
The Solution
Miller Creative developed a 2D animated character named DAX. DAX is a likable yet unsafe ramp worker. Whether it is safe driving, hydration, dangerous goods or jetblast, DAX seems to enthusiastically find his way into dangerous situations.
This :30 second narrated animation also was created to work in environments that did not have audio support. For viewers with audio, the series was offered as a multilingual program that graphically demonstrated the results of unsafe behavior on the ramp.
The Results
Safety is United’s number one priority. With thousands of flights operating daily, it is imperative that employees remain vigilant. Playing DAX in the break rooms for ramp workers to see prior to working a flight; provided a visual reminder of SOP and safety procedures that help ensure that everyone goes home in the same condition that they arrived. Don’t be DAX.
